On Christmas (25th of December), Holiday Apes will come bearing many gifts. In the meantime, you will have a shot to increase your chances of getting a present by playing the Snowball Game.

With each Holiday Ape you mint, you will receive 10,000 $GIFTY tokens. These tokens will be used to bid on pieces from blue-chip collections, purchase raffle tickets, or purchase mints for the new collection. More details on how you can spend your tokens will be released as Christmas approaches, so make sure to stay tuned. However, you don’t have to sit around on your tokens and wait for Christmas to come, you can actually play the Snowball game and earn some more tokens (but you can also lose those tokens, so be careful!).

TL;DR

  • The Snowball game - each time snowball rolls, it can either increase its multiplier or break
  • There are two Snowball game modes: High Frequency and Snowlafke
  • High-Frequency - the Snowball rolls every hour (so players can either take out their money or continue playing every hour), but the stakes are higher (35% multiplier increase and 20% chance of failure)
  • Snowflake mode - the Snowball rolls every 12 hours and the multiplier increases by 15%, but it has a 10% chance of failing
  • Staking - by staking your Holiday Ape, you can earn a share of the Snowball when it crashes
#

With each new run of either snowball game mode, $GIFTY token holders will have the chance to put some (or all) of their $GIFTY tokens into the snowball. After it starts its run, no one can stop it. Not you, not the devs, not even God him/herself. The snowball can only get broken down randomly. This randomness is determined using Chainlink VRF (Verifiable Random Function). After its run has started, holders will not be able to put their tokens into the game anymore.

High-Frequency

Each roll will last one hour, and with each roll, the players will have to decide whether to pull their tokens out of the game or to continue playing. It’s important to pay attention to the difference between run and roll. One run may have many rolls, and it is determined by when the snowball crashes. On each roll, players can choose to continue playing or opt-out. In the High-Frequency game mode, there is a 20% chance that the snowball crashes, but the possible return increases by 35%.

Snowflake mode

Contrary to High-Frequency mode, Snowflake mode is meant to be a lot more relaxing and predictable. Hence, the chance of it breaking down on any roll is 10% and each roll lasts for 12 hours. To compensate players who wish to put their tokens into the snowball, the multiplier on their tokens increases by 15% with each roll.

The additional 15% that the multiplier increases each run may not sound like a lot, but after it compounds for a few rolls, it can become quite a lot. In the table below, you can see how the multiplier grows for 10 periods (or 5 days) without breaking down.

What about when the Snowball crashes?

When it crashes, all of the players that participated in the Snowball run lose their $GIFTY put into the snowball. But, you can still benefit from a snowball crash. 70% of all of the $GIFTY tokens put into the snowball are put into a fund. This fund will equally disperse the tokens amongst the people that stake their Holiday Apes. The remaining 30% will be burned and removed from the supply forever.

* Disclaimer: $GIFTY tokens have no economic value and should not be treated as a financial investment.
